Learn more about our spread the love mission and aiding those who serve our country
At Flourish in Place, we love to give back to our Central Florida community that has given so much to us. One of the ways we chose to do this was by holding a two-week event this past holiday season for those who serve our country called “Spread the Love to Soldiers”.

What is “Spread the Love to Soldiers”?
Ashley Braden, our Community Liaison, established “Spread the Love to Soldiers” to help seniors send patriotic cards and letters of appreciation to brave troops for the holidays.
Santa Claus, a retired paramedic and firefighter, and his two elves, our very own Ashley and Carly from Caring Transitions, made an unforgettable appearance at the events. We were happily able to send our best wishes to deployed service members while spreading holiday cheer to seniors in our community through this initiative.
How to include your senior loved ones in the holidays
The holiday season brings fun activities, traditions, and celebrations. Still, the holidays may look a little different than they used to for your senior loved ones. The sense of change can bring about new challenges and feelings of loneliness.
At Flourish in Place, we do what we can to allow our seniors to establish feelings of comfort and happiness during all times of the year, including the holidays. Creating holiday traditions and planning activities like “Spread the Love to Soldiers” helps make the holidays special for them. Through Spread the Love, we were able to travel to several senior communities to write holiday cards for soldiers overseas. This new tradition brings holiday cheer and a sense of tradition to our community.
Our aid to veterans
This event is special to our whole Flourish in Place family, but especially to our veteran seniors. They are able to empathize with the soldiers abroad and it brings about a sense of camaraderie to both parties.
At Flourish in Place, we help our veterans through the Veterans Aid and Attendance Pension Benefit, a benefit available through the United States government that 1 in 3 seniors may be eligible for, but very few people actually know about. It provides up to $2,295 per month for personal home care services to veterans and their surviving spouses for the rest of their lives.
We are proud partners of the Veterans Benefit Group, which allows us to help determine if you qualify for the benefit. We’re also proud partners of the local Orlando VA Medical Center (VAMC), which further helps us aid our senior veterans.
